Installation in 4 EASY STEPS
Shape customer’s ring to correct CLOSED finger size.
Thoroughly clean and steam the customer’s ring prior to soldering.
Split top of FINGER FIT shank and gently round to same CLOSED finger size on mandrel with rawhide or nylon mallet.
Match ring and shank on mandrel exactly. Mark ring shoulder and FINGER FIT as far from hinges as practical. Cut excess from both. Ring top and FINGER FIT together should equal correct CLOSED
finger size.Solder FINGER FIT to shoulder of ring. Emery to match and polish. Do not emery rivet caps. Polish rivet caps lightly so as to not remove or destroy rivet caps.
Attaching a Wedding Set onto a Double FingerFit Shank
In proper order considering the style and condition of the customer’s rings: Tack the set together and shape to the correct closed finger size.
Proceed with steps #2 and #3 above.
Solder Finger Fit shank to the ring. Blend the rings to the Finger Fit shank, emery and polish. Do not emery rivet caps. Polish rivet caps lightly so as to not remove or destroy rivet caps.
Partial or 1/2 Installation
If a customer’s ring is heavily worn from long term use we can replace the lower half of the ring saving the customer from having to purchase and entire new install.
Remove the rivets attaching the old 1/2.
Inspect customer’s male hinges and repair (see below) if needed.
Place the new 1/2 shank on the customer’s top 1/2 and align the rivet holes.
Insert 22g wire on both sides through the rivet holes.
Check that the ring opens properly, then rivet the ends of both wires.
